The Humanitarian Centre is seeking to appoint a Director to take it into its next phase of development.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual who can lead the team with the support of Trustees to implement and further develop our programme and plans going forward. This is an exciting opportunity for the right professional to build on a strong network of organisations working together to reduce global poverty.
The Humanitarian Centre works for a world of justice and equality, free from poverty, where human rights and the environment are respected. We work in partnership with our members and organisations in and beyond Cambridge to generate real solutions that make a tangible difference to communities worldwide.

NOW RECRUITING: ENGINEERS WITHOUT BORDERS CHALLENGE MANAGER STAFF ROLE
Engineers Without Borders UK (EWB-UK) is an organisation that creates massive small change by empowering thousands of new engineers to remove barriers to human development. The EWB Challenge Manager role is a phenomenal opportunity to explore the empowerment of young people to take on development challenges in their own lives. Specifically, the EWB Challenge is focused on educating and developing a generation of engineers who are active global citizens – taking action for international development and the alleviation of poverty as well as appreciating what can be done to deliver sustainable livelihoods worldwide.The EWB Challenge is a team design challenge competition for first and second year undergraduates to develop conceptual designs for real-life engineering projects in a developing country, as identified by our international community partners. It runs as a for-credit programme within engineering, design, and global issues curricula at 52 universities internationally reaching over 10,000 students. This academic year the Challenge was run in 19 UK and Irish universities involving 2,800 students with more signed up for next year.The EWB Challenge Manager role is primarily responsible for the delivery of the EWB Challenge and also the development and delivery of our activities supporting academics to further embed sustainable human development into university engineering curricula. The successful candidate will develop and lead a team of talented volunteers, manage all aspects of the programme and need a combination of people skills, a commitment to achieving the highest standards, and experience of education programmes relevant to the global engineer. The role includes extensive UK travel, international field trips to work with our community partners and liaison with our sister organisation EWB Australia.EWB-UK is a innovative, dynamic and vibrant organisation to work for with a large network – enabling opportunities in the engineering, education and international development sectors. The charity is based in Central London within the Institution of Civil Engineers, One Great George Street, Westminster, London.Working hours are 37.5 per week. Additional benefits include pension, access to training and 24 days annual leave plus public holidays.
