Humanitarian Centre Volunteers, Cambridge
ICT4D finale event volunteers:
The Humanitarian Centre is holding the ICT for development finale event next Tuesday, 27th September. The event is entitled ‘Participation, technology and development’, and will involve high profile speakers including development expert Prof. Robert Chambers and Agile software development expert Dr Alistair Cockburn. It will provide a great opportunity to learn about current international and software development issues and ideas, talk to professionals working in the industry and make contacts. We are now looking for volunteers to help out at this event. Volunteer roles will involve supporting the organisers on the night: with registration desks, setting up information stalls and generally being on hand for logistical tasks. The event runs from 6-9pm, but we would ask some volunteers to arrive from 5pm onwards.
Events editor:
The Humanitarian Centre publicises a diverse range of development-related events taking place in or near Cambridge. We publish the events in our online calendar and in an ‘events update’ email, sent weekly to a large number of subscribers. We are looking for a volunteer to collate information about relevant events and add them to the calendar and email. This is a great role if you’re interested in events publicity and like to keep abreast of what’s going on. We are looking for someone with good writing skills and attention to detail, who is reliable and willing to spend about 3 hours per week on events editing. Experience of using Group Spaces is desirable but not essential – necessary training will be provided.
Reporters:
Interested in international development work and/or journalism? The volunteer opportunity of reporter for the Humanitarian Centre could be perfect for you! We are looking for someone with good writing skills, and a keen interest in international development who would be willing to write short articles about events and activities related to international development that have some connection to the Cambridge area.
We are looking for a reporter at short notice to cover the ICT4D finale detailed above so if you would like to report on this fantastic high profile event please get in touch ASAP.
If you are interested in any of the above positions or have questions, please contact Tom Hird at .
Global health media volunteers:
For those who are passionate about communicating Global Health issues in an intelligent and engaging way. We are looking for volunteer bloggers and social media enthusiasts, as well as podcast- and video- makers, to effectively and creatively contribute editorials, event reviews, interviews, and relevant research to the Humanitarian Centre’s Cambridge Global Health website. We believe this is a particularly good opportunity for those seeking a career in journalism, media & communications, campaigning and advocacy, or international development.
If you are interested in this position or have any questions, please contact Anne Radl at .
