Humanitarian Centre charity registration

Humanitarian Centre joins BOND

  • The Humanitarian Centre has recently been accepted by British Overseas NGOs for Development as an associate member. This will open up further networking opportunities for the Humanitarian Centre and its members.

Humanitarian Centre Garden Party, June 20th

  • The sun shone as over a hundred Cambridge humanitarians came together to celebrate the end of the academic year in the Master's gardens at Emmanuel College. The event was supported by great music and dance from all over the world, as well as food from local stores. Our thanks to Lord and Lady Wilson for their support to the event, as well as all performaers and donors.

International Development Course, May 12th

  • Nearly two hundred students and visitors gathered in the Cambridge University Law Faculty on May 12th to hear lectures and seminars on aspects of international development. The fifth (and so far largest) IDC started with a plenary lecture on "capitalism and freedom" by Professor Peter Nolan, before participants went to themed seminars on the envoironment, infrastructure, health, education, and economics and trade. It concluded with Naved Chowdhury of the Overseas Development Institute speaking on "the politics of policy making".

Humanitarian Centre Inaugural Lecture

  • The Humanitarian Centre Inaugural Lecture was held at the Queen's Building, Emmanuel College on Wednesday 7th February.  The speaker was Matthias Schmale, International Director of the British Red Cross Society, who spoke to a full house on the issues and challenges of ensuring relevance and credibility as a relief organisation.
